Due to the overwhelming demands placed on The Commish by the influx of Dump Day transactions, there will be no new column this week.

Of course, I was all ready to write a column about Piazza selling out Clemens at the All Star Game, Crash Davis-style. Even went so far as to take notes on re-writing the "He hit the bull!" conversation that Crash and Nuke Laloosh had on the mound in the movie "Bull Durham". However, it looks like ESPN Page 2 columnist extraordinaire Jim Caple beat me to the punch! This is an extremely funny column, much, much more than I could've come up with. So to fill the void left by the lack of a News & Notes this week, here's a link to Jim's take on the Piazza/Clemens conspiracy. It's a must read if you've got the time.

Thanks for all your cooperation with the Dump Day rules and we'll see you all next Tuesday (give or take) with an extra-long column full of new and original material. 'til next week...
