Hello boys and girls and welcome to another exciting episode of "The Commish's Hit Parade"! Leading off today's show we've got Old Blue Eyes himself singing about last weekend's Red Sox - Yankees showdown. You know, the one where Boston choked with the AL East title on the line? Anyway, join Frankie (and that's Sinatra, not Viola, by the way) as he croons to the tune of his hit "Strangers In The Night"

It started out so right,
for the guys from Boston
A wonderous first night
They almost lost one
But bottom of the ninth
They beat Mariano

But Game Two the Yankees spanked Derek Lowe
Came back the next night, and roughed up Pedro
Leaving The Big Series
A meager one and two.

Can't put up a fight
These freakin' Red Sox
Why can't they put up a fight?
In a big moment
Where did their pitching go?
Does anybody know
When this curse will go away
Oh cursed curse please go away... and

With two ugly nights
In mid-September
Destined for second place
Wild cards forever
Things still may turn out right
If they can just put up a fight

Next up a little ditty to the tune of that recent pop smash "Stacey's Mom", by the local New Jersey band The Fountains of Wayne. Only this time, instead of singing about Stacey's mother, we're gonna give Ugueth Urbina a little advice about his recent maternal troubles. We'll just run quickly through the chorus one time…

Ugie's mom has got a ransom on
So he's left all the saves, up to Esteban Yan
Ugie can't you see
You've just got to pay the fee
I know it might be wrong
But you can't let them kill your mom

Ugie's mom has got a ransom on...
Ugie's mom has got a ransom on...

Nice catchy tune there, isn't it? Had a good beat, I could dance to it, I give it an 88… By the way, I hear it's currently #15 on the Caracas Top 40. And it's sold over a million copies already as well…

Song bite #3 on today's show is a nice little juxtaposition of a "make peace not war" song from the Vietnam Era and the recent violent mayhem that occurred during the last Oakland A's - Texas Rangers series. So break out that tie-dye shirt you've had in the back of the closet, fill up the Jung Bong and give me your best Scott McKenzie voice as we sing to the tune of "San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Some Flowers In Your Hair)"…

Are you going to heckle Frank Francisco?
If so, here's one thing, of which you should be aware.
Should you heckle Frank Francisco
Be careful what you say, 'cause he might throw a chair!
And if you piss off Frank Francisco
You'll be sure to find furniture in the air

Ok, you can put Jung Bong down now, exhale, and take those damn pansies out of your hair! It's now time for a brief interlude of "Happy Birthday" to The Commish who turns a whopping (unless you're Walt Cherniak's age) 36 years old today!

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Now hurry up and get the damn stats done!
Happy Birthday to you!

And for our final song of the evening, we had invited Bruce Springsteen to sing his 80's hit, "My Hometown" about the recent Marlins/Expos series at US Cellular Field in Chicago in which neither team really was the "home team". The Marlins were forced into this neutral-site "home" game after they were unable to return to Miami from a series against the Cubs due to the forces of Hurricane Ivan Calderon. As for the Expos, need we even begin to discuss their search for a home? Well, anyway, The Boss was busy and the best we could come up with on short notice was an offer of a show tune performed by the cast of the Broadway play "Chicago" but we respectfully declined. Not that there's anything wrong with that…

Finally, to close out this "hit" parade, I ask you this week's trivia question. Which has more singles, Ichiro or Club Med? Two more weeks left and we've got some real excitement at the top of the league standings as four teams remain alive in the chase for the Full Monty championship. So be sure to join us next week on The Commish's Hit Parade when we'll feature The Artist Formerly Known As Tom Prince singing his latest hit, "Doug Must Die 4 U"… 'til next week…
