LA RANTS - January 7th, 2004 A Happy New Year to all! Hope everybody had a good Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanza, WHAT EVER HOLIDAY you would like to celebrate and a great NEW YEARS EVE AND DAY. Well what do we have to talk about in the very early stages of 2004? Well you have to go back to the last century to find the last time that the N.Y. Strangers the N.Y. ISLANDERS and the N.J.Swampers were all above .500 this time of the season. However the N.Y Islanders are falling apart like parts of Al Qaeda, just ask Yashin. He must have felt that the Philadelphia Flyers goon was one of the stowaways found on the plain with that sharp edge that slashed his wrist! The N.Y. Strangers are as constant as the Democratic Party is with issues, can you say "flip-flop"? And the N.J. Swamp has been as constant as Britney's marriage to Jason Allen Alexander in scoring! I see Pete Rose is back in the news, I wonder what the odds are on a As far as I am concerned, I feel Pete should be in The Hall at Cooperstown, or at least on the ballot. After all you have drug addicts like Keith Hernandez on the ballot. Drunks like The Mick are already in The Hall and rapists and killers will most certainly find their way into the vote in coming seasons. Although, there's no chance Ray Lewis or anyone from the NBA gets into Cooperstown anytime soon! We've got cheaters like Gaylord Perry (not that there's anything wrong with that!), and Cork Bats Slamming Sammy over there in Chicago who will probably go into The Hall also. Steroids? Well I don't have enough time to list them all here but we will put Bonds on the top of that "most likely to be enshrined" list. Did you say "racists"? Can you say "Ty Cobb"? So what is a little bet, say 10000 times on the Yanks, Mets, Reds, Pirates and Rangers, or any other sport for that matter, going to do? Like these sports people are saying it will hurt the integrity of the game. Integrity?! What integrity? If there was any "integrity" in the first place then all these punks and drunks and other people would not already be in The Hall! That's what I think! Well time to go, everybody take care...
