Once again in my absence, someone has stepped up behind center and taken the News & Notes football. First Kenny B back in Week 8 and now Mikey Flinn had a little time to spare and has written a song parody for us to enjoy. Despite having too much time on his hands, it's not a song by Styx, but "domo arigato" Mr. Flinn for your musical contribution to league history:

Since 1st and Goalfather has wrapped up this season's title, I thought it would be better to look ahead to next year's draft than to look back on how my tough love spurred Fab on to the title. In honor of the Commish who, back in the old days, use to write songs for the News and Notes, I have written a song for the draft.

sung to the tune of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven":

There's a Legere who's sure that all his draft picks are bold

And he's buying into drafting Dorsey Levens.
When his pick gets there he knows, if the backs are all gone
With no trades he can't get what he came for.
Ooh, ooh, and he's buying into drafting Dorsey Levens.

There's the picks on the board, but he wants to be sure

'Cause you know sometimes Rob has strange leanings.
In a house in the woods, there's a Chuck who still sings,
About how all of Joe's picks are misguided.
Ooh, don't let me blunder,
Ooh, don't let me blunder,

There's a feeling Fab gets when he looks at what's left,

And Don is crying for no reason.
In my thoughts I have seen, 1st round picks with bad knees,
And the voices of the teams who draft kickers too early.
Ooh, don't let me blunder,
Ooh, please don't let me blunder,

And it's whispered that if Ken drafts a Jet too soon

Then the Binder Boys will finally have a good season.
And as Kevin throws his brawn at those who take too long
The chat room will echo with laughter.

Does anyone remember laughter (or News and Notes)?

If there's a Texan in your cheat sheet, don't be alarmed now,

It's just a typo or a D/ST.
Yes, there are two tracts you can draft by, but in the long run
There's still time to change the strategy you're on.
God, please don't let me blunder.

Your co-owner is bumming and he won't let go, in case you don't know,

of the wide receiver he been calling to join him,
Dear owners, did you hear, that Ian's team blows, and did you know
Your team's fate depends on the Frozen Tundra's wind.

And as the draft winds on down the road

The decent players - where did they all go?
We walk a fine line we all know
Where Commish drafts three teams and wants to show
How his draft picks are still bold.
And if you listen to the lard
Your turn will come to you at last.
But all the backs are gone and no one is left at all
Can't get Rock Cartwright and not even Frank Gore.

And we're all buying into drafting Dorsey Levens.
